Have You Heard About Nendoroid Figures
Nendoroid is a brand of small plastic figures, created by the Japanese Good Smile Company and are named from the Japanese word "Nendo", which is Japanese for clay or plasticine. They are usually replicas of an anime or manga character and are commonly used as collectors items or toys and they are little adorable huge faced figures that are roughly 10 cm - 14 cm in height, almost half of height of regular sized figures and are extremely cute, depending on the character they were made to look like.
Normally they are made in a chibi or super deformed style, with a large head and smaller body to make them look cute. Their faces and body parts are movable and interchangeable, giving them a range of different expressions, postures and items to hold. However, they have a very limited production run, often selling out before their official release, making them increasingly popular with collectors. Until recently these figures were only accessible in Japan but with the bludgeoning popularity of Japanese Manga and Anime in the US and Europe these figures are becoming more popular, and as a result more difficult to find.
Nendoroid Petit are smaller versions of the regular figures, about the size of gachapon (capsule) figures, but again of better quality and paint work. These figures are also commonly referred to as Nendoroid Puchi figures or Nendoroid trading figures that cost about 500 yen each and are about 5cm tall. Then there are the Nendoroid Plus which are either a collaboration effort between two companies or there is something particularly special about it. It was a bit surprising for many of the nendoroid lovers when they saw Mickey Mouse as a 100th figure. This was the first time a western figure from Disney had appeared as a Nendoroid figure. There are more recent figures as well like Tomoe, Hinagiku Katsura, Yuki Nagato etc belonging to different anime series and prices are generally around 3500-4000 Yen, about $40 to $49.
