HELPING YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR FIGURE(S)!Mystique Lustrious, Mysterious and BeautifulMystique, a mutant with the ability to shape shift, has hidden her powers and evil intentions so well that she has crept through the ranks of the United States Department of Defense. Talk about under cover! This femme fatale is able to psionically change the molecular makeup of her body to resemble another person, though she is unable to change her mass. This ability has made her one of the biggest plot-drivers in Marvel history. Much of Mystique’s background is unknown, as her aging can be masked by her shape changing abilities. It is known that she is the mother of the X-Man known as Nightcrawler, as well as Graydon Creed, an assassinated presidential candidate and hater of mutants. Originally Mystique was unable to change into anything else but human/mutant, but in a 2001 Xmen mini-series, Mystique came in contact with high levels of radiation which gave her skin fish-like scales. After this event, Mystique gained the ability to sprout wings, claws, utilize nightvision, as well as many other non-human traits.
Mystique was one of the original members of the Brotherhood of Mutants, operated by supervillian Magneto. Much of the group’s intentions revolved around attempts to sway politics in a way favorable to mutants. The group’s thwarted attempt to kill Senator Robert Kelly (a man hell-bent on informing the public of the dangers of mutants) caused an instant feud between the Brotherhood and the Xmen. Mystique is the latest addition to the MARVEL Premium Format Figure line from Sideshow Collectibles. With the government hot on her trail, Mystique turned to Professor Charles Xavier, leader of the Xmen, for asylum. In return she agreed to assist him on his special missions. This might have been considered a not-so-smart move made by Professor X, considering the fact that she defied the Professor’s trust and went under the alias of Foxx in order to get a better relationship with her foster daughter, Rogue. Mystique has also joined many other teams, including Freedom Force, X-Corps, X-Corporation, Maruaders, DARPA and X-Factor. X-Factor is a government-sponsored group that framed Raven Darkholme (alias of Mystique) for destroying a dam. It turned out that her entire purpose in the government’s doing so was to have the team killed off by Sabertooth, Raven’s former lover and father of Graydon Creed. However, Mystique managed to save the team by sacrificing herself in a battle with Sabertooth.
When the government rolled out Project Wide Awake, Mystique and the Brotherhood of mutants attempted to strike another deal for protection. In return, under the new guise of the Freedom Force, the team would bring Magneto in to be put on trial for his crimes. The Freedom Force would fight many other mutants under the guidance of the government, eventually leading to the death of Mystique’s former lover, Destiny. This death left Mystique psychologically scarred, in a manner that she would never truly recover from. Sculpted to Sideshow's museum-quality standard, the Mystique Premium Format Figure presents the shape-shifting blue babe in fine form. Each piece is hand-cast of high-quality polystone, hand finished and individually numbered.
