McFarlanes Military Deploy Across the Country! But don't worry, the McFarlane I'm talking about is Taodd McFarlane of Spawn fame and the military is his "army" of action figures. Top toy manufacturer McFarlane Toys are to produce Military action figure. McFarlane's have been manufacturing action figures based on movie and TV characters for over a decade now as well as being licensed to produce figures for all four major sports in the U.S. The popularity of their action figures and the companies reputation for high quality, realistic and authentic replicas of the original characters or sports personalities has been commented on and praised by both fans and collectors and has raised the standards by which other companies are judged on.
In January, 2005 McFarlane's announced that they would be launching a new line of Military action figures. After researching the genre and looking at what was currently available McFarlane felt that there was a "gap" in the market that McFarlane Toys could fill. Instead of the usual generic, static "army men" available McFarlane decided to make military action figures that would focus on modern American troops from all major service branches and that they would feature accurate uniforms and equipment, and sculpted in real, life-based action poses. These military action figures are therefore fully detailed representations of American soldiers in authentic uniforms and equipment, sculpted to the standard McFarlane scale (6 to 7 inches). Unlike most other military action figures available these are truly "life like" and I hesitate to call them "toys", but they aren't quite "statues" either. Personally I think they are more an adults collectible than a toy, but then again... Although it was originally announced that they would only be producing modern day American military action figures McFarlane Toys have now released information on there upcoming 2008 WWII line of figures, which has generated a great deal of interest recently. The very first series of McFarlane Military action figures was released in May, 2005 and included:
It also included a special Toys "R" Us deluxe boxed set and a limited-edition Collector's Club exclusive Accessory Pack.
