Decades ago in early 1928 no one knew the name of Walt Disney as he was just a cartoonist who ran a small studio.

He seemingly got screwed by an employer at Universal Pictures over a cartoon characters rights and with his loyal friend and fellow cartoonist Ub Iwerks they came up with the idea of a cartoon character who was going to change their futures, a character know today as Mickey Mouse.

Walt Disney originally thought of the name “Mortimer” for his mouse but on the suggestion of his wife changed the name to "Mickey", a cute name for a cute character.

Walt Disney, along with his staff, worked rigorously for the marketing of his new character and soon success came up with the sound cartoon called "Steamboat Willie".

The massive success of Steamboat Willie proved to be the launching pad for Disney and the stage was set for him to move ahead with his cute and adorable Mickey and a series of short cartoons solidifying the iconic status of Mickey Mouse.

Walt Disney himself provided the voice for Mickey in the beginning and he may not have realised it at the time but thanks to Mickey Mouse, who laid the foundation for its success and growth, the Walt Disney Company became huge.

Mickey Mouse is a great child icon, loved and adored by kids and adults as well.
