Dr Rene Belloq and Indiana Jones are old rivals, this time they meet in a South American jungle in 1939.

Our hero Indy has just narrowly escaped the deathly booby traps to claim the fertility idol when he "bumps" in Rene Belloq.

Surrounded by natives with poisoned darts he has no choice but to hand over the artifact and return home empty handed.

Later Indy discovers that Dr Rene Belloq is aiding the Nazis who have disovered the ancient, legendary city of Tanis, which is said to be the resting place of the Ark of the Covenant.

The Ark is said to house the Ten Commandments and will grant whoever can open it with extra-ordinary powers.

A race to put together the map detailing the Arks whereabouts ensues with Indy discovering its real wherebouts moments before the Germans.
