Daniel Briere was born in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada on October 6, 1977. Brierre went to a private school in his home town and he has three sons. Briere currently plays for the Philadelphia Flyers but was drafted in the 1996 NHL Draft, 26th overall by the Poenix Coyotes. Brière made noise as a Phoenix Coyote, but he truly arrived in his final season in Buffalo, racking up 95 points as the Sabres rolled to the Eastern Conference Finals. Free agency landed him in Philadelphia with the Philadelphia Flyers on an eight year $52 million contract, where he spearheads the re-vamped Flyers offense.
Jarome Iginla's full name is Jarome Arthur-Leigh Adekunie Tig Junior Elvis Iginla was born on July 1, 1977 in Edmington, Alberta, Canada.
His parents seperated when he was still a baby and he was brought up by his mother and grandparents.
Initially his first love was baseball and he played as a catcher on the Canadian National Junior Team as well as the St Albert Minor Hockey Asssociation.
He was drated by the Dallas Stars in the 1995 NHL Entry Drat 11th overall before being traded to the Calgary Flames where he has stayed.
His first two seasons he played as a goal tender before switching to right wing where he developed the ability to score goals.
After becoming a key player in the 2002 Gold Medal winning Canadian Olylmpic team and a sensational season became a superstar and a fan favorite.
The following season, 2003, he becme the Flames captain.
He is highly regarded in the NHL and is widely thought of as being one of the best players in the NHL today.
He has a mean streak, a power wrist shot, a proven leader and is not afraid of meeting challenges.
Jonathan Earl Cheechoo was born on July 15, 1980 in Moose Factory, Ontario and he is the first Moose Cree First Member to play in the NHL.
He was selected by the San Jose Sharks 29th overall in the 1998 NHL entry Draftsand they were criticized for choosing a lacklustre player instead of other more talented players.
The Sharks' top gun has delivered 130 goals in his first four seasons, and remains one of the main reasons San Jose is the team no one wants to face in the Western Conference playoffs.
Born on April 28, 1970 Nicklas Lidstrom is Swedish by birth and was born in Vasteras, Sweden.
He played for his hometown for thee seasons befoe being drafted by the Detoit Red Wings in the 1989 NHL Enty Draft 53rd oveall whee he has stayed ever since.
Nicklas is known fo his durability and is regearded as one of the leagues top defensemen.
He has won the coverted James Norris Memorial Trophy five times.
This trophy is awarded annually to the NHL's top "defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position."
He is one of only four defensemen to win the trophy more than four times, tieing with Ray Bourque (Bobby Orr has eight, Doug Harvey has six).
With Hockeytown in a bit of transition following the retirement of Steve Yzerman and the exit of Brendan Shanahan, it is Lidstrom who leads the new-look Wings into battle every night.
Bon on May 20, 1977 in Tampere, Finland Vesa is a Finnish goaltender who joined the NHL in 1995 when he was selected by the San Jose Sharks 90th overall in the NHL Enty Drafts.
Before being selected by the Sharks Toskala was going to quit hockey to study full-time in oder to get a more "stable" job.
He spent four seasons sharing net time in San Jose before he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs who gave him the full-time starting goalie job he'd been waiting for.
Toskala showed his mettle in Toronto over an 11-start stretch in late 2007, earning a pair of shutouts and a 7-3-0-1 record, allowing 18 goals while stopping 266 shots.
Daniel has one daughter who was born in 2006 and is married to Marinette.
He was born on September 26, 1980 in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden and splits his time between Vancouver and Sweden.
Sedin was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks second oveall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
He has an identical twin brother who also plays for the Canucks and they are often referred to as the "brothers line".
Before joining the NHL the brothers had a chance to play professional football in Sweden but they decided they preferred hockey.
The easiest way to tell the Sedin twins apart is right after the goal scores.
Odds are, Daniel scored the goal, and Henrik delivered the assist.
Daniel is the more prolific scorer of the two, but Henrik is the better playmaker - giving Vancouver a legitimate opportunity to score every time the "brithers line" takes the ice.
With his speed, strength and a granite shoulder Phanuef has perfected his blue line defense.
Calgary Flames young defenseman is their "brick wall" line of defence, an unmovable, unpregnable and just waiting for a high speed force to meet his match.
