  • NHL Legends Maurice Rocket Richard
  • Joseph Henri Maurice Richard (1921 - 2000) was known throughout his career as The Rocket. He was a hero a , strong and adaptable player who played no matter how injured he was and he was immortalised in the film, Maurice Richard ("The Rocket") by Charles Biname.

Despite being turned down three times by the military as a result of injuries sustained in his junior hockey days, Richard was disappointed but tried to serve his country in other ways throughout his hockey career.

Richard played for the Montreal Canadiens for 18 years (1942-1960) and was the first player ever to achieve the 50 goals in 50 games. He led the league in goals not just once or twice, but five times!

He was part of the Montreal's Stanley Cup team 8 times, and 8 times he was chosen for the first all-star team. He has the distinction of having played in every single NHL All-Star game from 1947 to 1959, an almost unbelievable feat, and a real testament to his skills.

In the 1959 playoffs he courted controversy and got into big trouble (a suspension for the remainder of the playoffs that season) when he deliberately attacked an official for the second time.

A riot ensued at a Montreal game as a result and the fans threw eggs, vegetables and other bits and pieces, causing $500.000 worth of damage and injuring 37 people.

Since his retirement he was treated with much respect, given all kinds of awards and honours and regarded as one of the real legends of ice-hockey. A true great, The Rocket was voted number 5 in the list of the Greatest Players of all time.

He scored a total of 541 career goals putting him just behind Rocket Richards at 27th on the all-time scoring list.

  • Doug Gilmours arrival at the Calagary Flames gave them an immeddiate boost propelling them to the Stanley Cup final and beating Montreal.

Gilmour was later acquired by the Maple Leafs and he set a Toronto record for the most number of points scored in a season and was made their captain in 1994.

  • NHL Legends Gordie Howe
  • Gordie Howe is referred to as simply ""Mr Hockey". World War II had just ended when he first entered the National Hockey League and when he played his final NHL season 33 years later when Wayne Gretzky was playing his first.

Howe was selected to 21 NHL All-Star squads, 12 times to the First Team. He led the NHL in scoring six times to capture the Art Ross Trophy and six times he won the Hart as the league's most valuable player. His Detroit team won the Stanley Cup four times.

When he broke the National Hockey League (NHL) scoring record of Maurice "Rocket" Richard, the debate among hockey buffs was whether Richard or Howe was the best player of all time.

Years later, when Wayne Gretzky broke Howe's record, the debate was renewed, this time Gretzky versus Howe.

He received his first taste of pro experience when he was invited to a New York Rangers training camp; however, Howe didn't make his NHL debut until 1946, at the age of 18, when he played right wing for the Detroit Red Wings.

Howe led Detroit to four Stanley Cups and to first place in regular-season play for seven consecutive years (1948-49 to 1955-56), a feat never equaled in NHL history.

Howe consistly emerged as one of the game's superstars, and he was frequently compared to the Montreal Canadiens' Maurice "Rocket" Richard. When Richard retired in 1960, he paid tribute to Howe, saying "Gordie could do everything."

When he turned 40, in 1967-68, the league expanded from six to twelve teams and the number of scoring opportunities grew as the game schedule increased.

Howe played the 1968-69 season on a line with Alex Delvecchio and Frank Mahovlich. The three were dubbed "The Production Line 3" and Howe's scoring returned to the levels of his youth, topping 100 points for the first time which included 44 goals and a career-high 59 assists.

In 1974, at the tender age of 46, Howe won the Gary L. Davidson Trophy, awarded to the WHA's most valuable player (the trophy was renamed the Gordie Howe Trophy the following year) and he ranks third in the history of National Hockey League with 1,850 points which includes 801 goals and 1,049 powerful assists.

  • NHL Legends Mark Messiers
  • Messiers was part of the 1-2 punch with Wayne Gretzky that brought Edmonton four Stanley Cups. His biggest impact was in 1989-90 season when, as Captain, he led them to their fifth championship with a new coach, new goalie and no Gretzky.

He followed up his outstanding career with the Oilers by leading the New York Rangers to a heart-stopping final against Vancouver in 1974.

    Figure Stats

Figure stands 6 3/4 inches at top of cap.

    Articulated at shoulders and thighs.

Includes Stanley Cup and 6-inch wide by 3 1/2-inch deep base with player name.

    Due Oct, 2008

    Note:

Both the Gilmour and Messier action figures will be split evenly between their two teams and packed in solid cases that will be shipped to their home markets.
