Read on to learn some fast facts about the Hall of Fame powerful linebacker Dick Butkus who added a new meaning to the term toughness a trait that was later generally associated with his team and Brain Urlacher who is proudly defending the tradition of toughness in his position as the Bears’ defensive captain.

Dick Butkus

Born on the 9th of December 1942, this great player hails from Chicago Illinois, he has three children and is married to Helen Essenhart.

Dick Butkus graduated from the Illinois University where he played for his university and achieved the coveted position of All American line backer two times.

He joined the Chicago Bears in 1965 and continued his professional career with his hometown team until 1973. This charismatic and powerful player’s name is synonymous with the traits of toughness and aggressiveness, attributes which have also lent a new meaning to the game play of his team.

During his aggressive professional career, Butkus accumulated a string of nicknames including the Robot of Destruction, the Enforcer, the Maestro of Mayhem and the Animal. All of which implicitly describe his forceful nature in the game.

He has been picked as the All Pro Linebacker for an impressive number of seven times and is regarded as one of the finest line backers in NFL history, and was elected into the Hall of Fame in 1983 at Canton, Ohio.



Upon retirement the meanest linebacker in the NFL's history of went on to take up a career in TV where he made a successful TV series in 1984, titled Blue Thunder.

Brain Urlacher

The 6 foot 4 inch tall charismatic player was born in May 1978 and hails from Pasco in Washington. He is today considered as a highly physical presence as a middle linebacker of the NFL.

There are many sports critics who identify Urlacher as the best linebacker of American football and many of them also believe him to be one the best defensive players in the entire NFL history.

He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2000 as their 9th overall choice in the 1st round. Urlacher contributes a highly powerful intensity and a distinct passion to his game.

His powerful and charismatic presence on the field draws all eyes of the spectators to him and has paved the way for many wins for his team, which is reflected in both his career statistics as well as his team’s statistics.

His High School career was equally colorful as he led his team from Lovington High School in a 14 to 0 record win during his senior year.

Urlacher’s is today considered as one of the best football players in the entire world and is acclaimed as one of the finest players in the current football arena.

Despite this off the field Urlacher is a great guy with loads of charm and easy camaraderie among his team mates. He contributes for many charity works and all in all, Urlacher is a person of extraordinary attributes both on and off the field.
