Meet Marvel's Loki

Loki is one of Marvel's most despicable, evil and most wretched creations created by writer Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber and artist Jack Kirby for Marvel Comics.

He is part of the fictional Marvel Universe and his character, together with another Marvel Comics superhero, Thor, who is his foster brother and arch nemesis, was based from Norse mythology fame.

Loki is the son of the Laufrey, the king of the Frost Giants of Jotunheim, one of the "Nine Worlds" in the kingdom of Asgard.

When Odin, king of Asgard, went to war against the giants, he killed Laufrey in the ensuing battle. After surveying the spoils of war, Odin found a small baby tucked away within the main fortress of Jotunheim.

It was the child Loki, who was rejected and hidden by his own race for he was born as a normal sized baby. The god king took the boy out of sympathy coupled with the respect to the child being the son of a king whom he had killed in battle.

Odin then decided to adopt the child and raise him as his own alongside his own son Thor, the future god of thunder.

Growing up, the boy Loki was visibly inferior with regards to the values that Thor possesses and he was greatly offended by the fact that Odin and the other Asgardians favored the young and noble Thor over him.

His jealousy and hatred grew even more knowing that Thor would one day wield Mjolnir, the magical hammer of Asgard. Over the years, Loki repeatedly crafted schemes to make Mjolnir's power his own and doing so ultimately caused him to earn the title, “The God of Mischief” and “The God of Evil”.

Undeterred, he then vowed to someday become the most powerful god in Asgard and to obliterate his foster brother in order to achieve his lofty ambition. Therefore, something which initially started out as envy turned into hate, which in turn became a rabid obsession.

Although not a giant in stature, Loki has physical attributes equal to those of the Asgardians such as enhanced strength; stamina; durability (although he oftentimes cheat using magic to enable him to withstand injuries); extreme longevity, and immunity to all known diseases.

Besides these physical abilities which he owes to being a direct descendant of the Frost Giants of Jotunheim, he knew that he was still no match for his brother in that department.

In order to attain his goal, the mischievous Loki began studying the arts for which he had a natural affinity to- sorcery.

He thought of somehow using this ability to become the most powerful god in all of Asgard and to finally destroy his adopted brother.

So Loki had extensive training in the rites of black magic and the manipulation of dark magical forces for various evil purposes. By using his magical and sensory powers, Loki can project himself into the minds of others and hear and observe the events in other dimensions. He also has the ability to grant superhuman abilities to living beings, control objects, cast illusions and hypnotism, and perform inter-dimensional teleportation.

He has an incredibly devious mind and always comes up with complex and manipulative plots against his enemies, particularly against Thor and the Asgardians.

Loki's evil plan eventually came to Earth where he drew the attention of the planet’s superheroes that got some needed assistance from Thor in defending the planet from Loki’s malevolence.

But being an adept shape-shifter who has the ability to transform into anything or anyone he chooses, Loki imitated the persona of some of Earth’s heroes for the sole purpose of framing them which would in turn discredit their reputation and create chaos.

For centuries he has tried to create mayhem, and each time he has failed. This turn of events has become the longest running feud between two rivals.

But putting his mystical abilities aside, Loki is always described as a brilliant intellectual. But his zealous hatred of Thor, lust for power and tendency to drive away his allies because of his dastardly actions has seriously impeded his chance to succeed in his ambitious plans.

Here Loki sits atop his usurped throne.

This intricated and highly detailed polystone sculpture has been cast to a musuem level of quality and precision.

A remarkable piece of work he comes with an inter changable left hand holding either his spear or chalice.
