Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark movie was the first Indiana Jones movie, released in 1981.

An extra-ordinary fantasy adventure with its own iconic hero and a trademark background music, Indiana Jones was created by the creative genius of both Spielberg and Lucas, with Harrison Ford playing the naughty, cocky and boastful character of Indiana Jones.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark was a huge success and the top grossing movie of its year as well as being nominated for eight Academy Awards, winning four of them which including "Best Film Editing", "Best Art Direction", "Best Sound" and "Best Visual Effects". The film features an archeologist known as Indian Jones or simply Dr. Jones who happens to be a great adventurer who goes on quests for rare artifacts

Whether willingly or not Harrison Ford became George Lucas's regular boy back then for as well as being cast for his Star Wars trilogy he starred in American Graffiti, created along with Francis Ford Coppola another famous film-maker and the creator of the iconic movie series "The Godfather".

Now Harrison Ford was also up for the Indiana Jones role, these castings would later turn him into one of the most popular and famous actors in the industry, with his characters in Lucas's movies proving to be big time career makers for him, unlike many of the other Star Wars actors such as Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher who played Princess Leia and Billy Dee Williams who played Lando Calrissian whose careers remain farly low key.

But it was more than just luck as Harrison fit his roles as both Han Solo and the cowboy fashioned archeologist hero Indiana Jones erfectly.

Indiana had a charm that was quite evident from the fact that the female students in his archeology class sessions used to take more notice of him than his lectures!

And so with high spirits, his adventure gear, trademark hat and wielding his whip Indiana goes on a quest to find the "Ark of the Covenant" before the Nazis can get their hands on it...

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark Synopsis

Later, after arriving in the US, he starts teaching archeology and he meets two intelligence officers who tell him that his mentor is being sought by the dreaded Nazis for some sort of supernatural weapon to strengthen their armies. Indiana, being a keen archeologist, figures out that the Nazis are after the Ark of the Covenant and that his mentor happens to possess the key to it.

Indiana then sets off on a quest to find the Ark of the Covenant and visits Nepal, discovering that his mentor is dead and his daughter, Marrion, has the key to the Ark.

During their ensuing adventures and encounters with the Nazis Marrion is kidnapped and Indy teams up with his friend and sidekick Sallah.

Indiana, along with Sallah, use the key to infiltrate the Nazis and find the Well of Souls in which the Ark is hidden, but he is interrupted by Belloq and the Nazis. Indiana and Marrion escape from their clutches and pursue the Ark in order to recapture it.

They leave Cairo on a boat but yet again they meet the Nazi who take the Ark, along with Marrion, to an island. Here Belloq decides to test the Ark for himself before presenting it to Adolf Hitler but when Belloq performs the ceremonial invocation, spirits are summoned from the Ark and…
