New Ben 10 Figures A Big Hit With Toy Stores

Ben 10 Figures give toy stores hope despite the poor economy.

Kids really don't get the whole economic downturn thing do they? All they're really interested in is the latest and hottest toys, which in this case are the Ben 10 Figures from Bandai.

But who is this Ben Tennyson anyway and what makes him such a hero?

To follow the mischievous adventures of Ben Tennyson is to be awe-inspired of all the heroic deeds that he has done at such a young age.

Benjamin "Ben" Tennyson is the boy-hero who plays the lead protagonist of the popular Cartoon Network series "Ben 10".

The cartoon series is a creation of Duncan Rouleau, Joe Kelly, Joe Casey, and Steven T. Seagle; a group who also prefer to be simply called "Man of Action".

Ben is portrayed as a typical 10-year-old boy who does what normal kids his age would do such as: playing video games, riding bikes, skateboarding, and of course, getting into trouble.

But Ben is not actually the "normal type" when it comes to the extra-terrestrial abilities and power that he possess and uses to fight off evil doers.

Immature and mischievous, yet good-hearted, Ben loves to be in the limelight even going to the point of taking the credit for something which he really didn't do or deserve. But then again, that's all just part of growing up.

The Ben 10 pilot episode aired over Cartoon Network on December 27, 2005 and opened with Ben, together with his cousin Gwen and their grandfather Max, going on a road trip for their summer camping trip.

After having a squabble with Gwen, whom he doesn't really want tagging along on that summer trip, Ben goes off alone into the woods to cool off. This is where he finds a gadget which at first looks like a watch, but when he put it on it, the device permanently attached itself to his wrist.

Upon further tinkering with the device, called the Omnitrix, Ben discovers that it gives him the ability to change into 10 different alien forms (thus the title "Ben 10"), each alien with its own unique power.

The Omnitrix, is a mysterious alien device which looks like a funky digital watch. This device has a variety of alien DNA's stored inside and allows the user to transform into whatever alien form is chosen.

The transformation occurs when a selected alien's DNA is combined with the user's own DNA and this is done by unlocking the Omnitrix control dial, turning it to the desired alien displayed on the hologram, and then pressing the control dial back into place.

Ben only gains the features and ability of whatever alien he selects and still remains a mischievous boy despite the change of looks.

The only catch is that there is a rather short time limit for each transformation and Ben must make good use of the time before he reverts back to his normal form. The Omnitrix then cannot be re-activated until it has fully recharged itself.

The Ben 10 series was well received by the viewers of Cartoon Network due to its unique storyline, kid-friendly plots and more than average graphics.

I, for one enjoy watching the show with my daughter. The show has stretched into four seasons already, with each season getting more interesting than the previous one and it has become a huge hit among kids around the globe, being surpassed ony by another Cartoon Network program, Bakugan.

Of course the Ben 10 figures weren't far behind the TV Show and have become hugely popular among kids and are likely to continue to do so for some time now.
